Glandular fever affected about 25% of the population at one time in their life. Epstein-Barr virus is what causes the mononucleosis infectious or also known as the Glandular fever. It takes 30 to 50 days for glandular fever to show up signs and symptoms. Usually, symptoms are already enough for the doctor to diagnose if it’s glandular fever. Glandular fever is not going to cause a serious health threat but it will last for weeks before it subsides. A patient who had glandular fever may still be contagious and spread the Epstein-Barr virus for months. Even when you no longer have the glandular fever, you can still infect others from weeks up to months after. Some people tend to overcome the Epstein-Barr virus without getting the glandular fever. A patient can experience headache or exhaustion on the onset of the glandular fever combined with other mild symptoms. When you get glandular fever you must not forget to drink a lot of water or fruit juice that’s not sweetened. You can gargle salt water for relief of sore throat that may be caused by glandular fever. The cause of glandular fever is a virus and not some kind of bacteria that can just be treated with antibiotics. About half of those who have glandular fever may also have swollen spleen. There are also known cases where patients with glandular fever have malfunctioning immune system as a result and shows up after a few years. There could be some genes that cause a person to be more prone to getting glandular fever.
