T Shirts For Men
Your father's white t shirt might still exist, but that is not what is making fashion waves these days. Increasingly reflecting the music industry, the t shirts of 2010 are colorful, unusual, creative, and individualistic. Watch any men’s fashion show, and you will see an astonishing array of shirts inspired by new rave and indie rock, among other musical genres. The t shirt has definitely arrived in the fashion world from its humble origins.
T shirts first emerged in the fashion culture in the 1800's. However, they were created as an undergarment for men to wear under their primary shirt. It was not until the emergence of the new century that Europeans began to popularize the t shirt as outerwear. During World War One, American soldiers observed the soft, Egyptian cotton shirt worn by Europeans. The t shirt quickly spread to the United States, especially since soldiers donned heavy wool uniforms at the time.
The United States Navy and Army adopted the use of t shirts as part of the standard uniform by the advent of World War Two. Even though the t shirt was given as underwear, soldiers in warmer climates found another use lightweight shirt, often wearing it without their uniform shirt. As photographs of soldiers wearing t shirts were spread throughout the world, the idea of wearing a t shirt as an outer garment became increasingly acceptable - even popular. It is during this era that contemporary use of the t shirt was born.
The popularity of the basic white t shirt continued to grow through the influence of Hollywood. Stars like James Dean, John Wayne, and Marlon Brando appeared on the screen wearing these shirts, and men copied their style. We cannot imagine the 60s without tie-dyed t shirts. Screen printing became popular during that decade also, as were Ringer T-Shirts. During the 70s, the rock concert industry popularized the black t shirt, promoting bands and musicians of every type. Many young men had a closet full of these shirts, and they would often become a wardrobe staple.
T shirt creativity did not stop there. The last two decades of the twentieth century saw the emergence of slogan t shirts. Slogans like "I'm with stupid" or "Frankie says Relax" were pervasive on t shirts, the latter of which also received inspiration from a musical band - Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Slogan tees became so pervasive, however, that trend setters began "personal branding" for t shirts. During the first decade of the twenty first century, this fashion statement took off with amazing success.
The newest trend in t shirt fashion seems to be twofold: color and personalization. Bold, bright colored t shirts are everywhere, with designs that reflect everything imaginable, from artists to musicians to religion to, well, whatever! Companies on the Internet and new technology have opened up a whole world for t shirt wearers; you can design your own t shirt at minimal cost and have a one-of-a-kind creation or reproduce it for a quick money-maker. One thing is for sure - the t shirt is definitely here to stay.
Is a nice black button up shirt black dress pants and a white tie acceptable for a job interview?
pretty much in the title
I can't imagine any job for which that would be appropriate.
The grossest thing happened in my bed (Denver Post)
This post may not be as salacious as you might think… I sleep with a woobie.
In the cold months. And my husband doesn’t mind. What, you may ask, is a
woobie? It’s a loaf-of-bread-sized bag of millet or buckwheat covered in a
flannel casing. Ours were made by one of my students years ago. Pop one [...]
