Pink Dress Student Geisy Arruda Dresses Way Out Of University
Reports vary as to whether Brazilian university student Geisy Arruda – aka the "pink dress student" – wore a form-fitting pink dress or an outfit with an attention-grabbing miniskirt to school, but the end result is clear: she was expelled from the university, and fellow students began a miniature riot over it. Brazil is known for such sexually uninhibited landmarks as Carnival and nude beaches, but apparently dressing slightly too risqué set off some administrators, which in turn brought some guffaws for their subsequent act to suspend Arruda. Numerous reports indicate that Arruda's classmates and countrymen and women find the university's decision to be outrageous.
Pink dress student is a natural Brazilian
Brazil and sexual prudishness simply do not go together. And despite widespread poverty and crime, the people of Brazil are, as a whole, happier than those in comparatively puritanical America. Geisy Arruda, the undaunted pink dress student, is using the expulsion as a happy springboard into stardom. Six months after her expulsion, writes Gather, the pink dress student is doing magazine photo shoots, has undergone plastic surgery, stars in her own reality TV show and is looking to launch a fashion line.
Gather calling out pink dress student is the pot calling the kettle black
Gather tries to criticize Arruda and the society that would make her a star, but they're barking up the wrong tree. The Gather blogger fails to admit that their blog is a part of the star-making media that revels in sex, bad behavior and salaciousness. We know Gather loves the sex-tape laden Kim Kardashian; the women who woo a Tiger; the follies of Jon and Kate; and the activities of Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Pink dress student Geisy Arruda simply showed some skin. Is it fair that she'll make more money than most people, particularly in her home country? No. But who said life was all communism and puppy dog tails?
Does being a celebrity mean what it used to?
Gather is right in saying that in used to be more difficult to become famous. It used to be that talent was what made someone famous. It certainly doesn't hurt to be gorgeous, but talent was king. Now all it takes is a mixture of good looks and a sprinkling of marketing talent. It takes more than being pretty, and that's where the self-promotion talent comes in. So it's quite clear that Gather misses the boat when they claim that all one needs for success is mammary floatation devices. The one-dimensional will only have their 15 minutes before they're forgotten. The Kim Kardashians and Tila Tequilas of the world have the marketing talent to back up the looks. They may not meet your definition of being fame-worthy, but they do it for a lot of people. Pink dress student Geisy Arruda may or may not have the "it" factor, but so far it appears that she's making waves.
