How Proper Ear Piercing Can Benefit You Long Term
You may have gone as a kid to the local store, sat on top of a box of say henckels knife set and waited as some random person came up to you with a weird looking gun type thing in their hand. No? Well you'd be one of the lucky ones then, what I am getting at is the way ears used to be and sadly still are getting pierced. And this will not be a discussion on age limits or parenting.
Yeah it hurt and I remember it quite clearly. I also remember how hard they were to look after and its not because I didn't try it was because this method of using guns is simply barbaric. Most piercers and their clients will agree that guns simply need to be banned.
So how can these big corporations say that piercing with a gun is totally safe, some will even go as far as to belittle proper piercing salons and say some are dirty or only attached to scruffy tattoo shops. For a start guns can't be fully cleaned so diseases even ones like aids can sit on the gun and cannot be cleaned off, imagine that right next to you as it shoves a stud in your ear, an open wound next to hepatitis bacteria.
In fact the knives in your knife block set at home are probably cleaner than an ear gun in a grocery store. At least you can sterilize metal! When a professional pierces ears or anything else really there shouldn't be any need to be rough of force the needle through. Guns simply use a spring loaded mechanism that fires a blunt stud through the ear causing a lot of pain and localised swelling, this is why so many kiddies end up at hospital having the backs of the stud cut out.
But the sad thing is that many people including parents will think that because guns are used that it means they are totally safe and clean. Remember too that the person wielding the bacteria laden gun probably got about 20 minutes training on a cardboard 'ear' before being set loose on kids as young as 3 years old.
People may think their only other option is to go into a scary and dirty tattoo parlour where they will be stared as by gruff bikers. This image is outdated and ridiculous. There are specific piercers out there with beautiful and often stylish studios they will put you at ease and have all the relevant and regulated equipment you may even get a nice coffee from the machine next to their countertop microwave in the waiting area!
After all isn't it better to be safer? We look after our bodies in so many ways our food, our sexual health so why skimp when it comes it putting a hole in your body?
