Could This Be The End Of The Big American Car?
The giant of the motoring industry, General Motors, who own brands like Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Pontiac and Buick, have reveasleda line-up of new cars. Only last month General Motors recovered from 40 days of bankruptcy where the US Government invested $50 billion into the company, of which is now 60% owned by the taxpayers.
Now that General Motors have recovered from bankruptcy, they can now look ahead and shape their brands to make more sales. Just a few days ago, they announced a couple of new ways to sell their vehicles. One of the methods was by listing their vehicles on eBay which began on August 11th.
On August 11th, General Motors invited more than 100 consumers to take part in a event with then in Detroit. The event was comprised of showing off a series of new cars that will soon be released by the motoring company. After they bounced back from bankruptcy, General Motors have been looking at their current car models, and they want change.
Currently the majority of their cars are large, gas guzzling tanks that although have been popular in the past, they are not so much now. To try and full in some younger clients to their showrooms, General Motors have designed a set of smaller and more fuel efficient cars for a number of their car brands.
The Chevrolet Volt was just one of the announced cars which is expected to be a big hit. This car is scheduled for release sometime in 2010 and it's become popular due to the number of miles per gallon it can do. Currently it's estimated that the car can do 230 miles per gallon, which should reduce running costs greatly.
The other big announcement for new cars is the new model Cadillac. The new Cadillac is a new small sports sedan and it will have either rear wheel or four wheel drive. The new Cadillac was not given an expected release date, but it is expected to be smaller than their popular Cadillac CTS.
During the event, a number of planned changes were announced by General Motors, all of which are expected to take effect within the next 3 years. Some of those plans included doubling the amount of models Buick have, going from the current 3, up to 6. We'll have to keep watching to see what new models are released first. Hopefully we'll also see some of the models coming to the contract hire market. Currently if you want to lease a big American car you have to get a Chrysler lease. Alternatively, another option to you would be to opt for cheap van leasing simply because they are almost as big as a Chevrolet.
I'm rodding a 53 Chevy. I want to put a 373 or 411 positrac under it . What model of car rear ends will fit?
I would like to know what other chevy rear ends will fit under the 53 BelAir. They don't have to presently be positrac, I'll have the necessary gears and hardware installed. I appreciate any help anyone can give.
53 -59 Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, Cadillac will all fit. The 57 Chev came with Posi.
