Can I put the compostable Kitchen Caddy bag into a wormery?
We've just bought a wormery from Ebay, and it's due soon... We've also got one of those "free" kitchen caddies from Sainsbury, and some Home Compostable bags to use in the caddy.
The box for the caddy liners talks about using them on your compost heap, but doesn't mention wormeries at all.
So is it ok to put these bags into a wormery?
In theory yes, but i wouldn't. The worms will only want a little at a time, they will eat the rotting vege matter only, put too much in and it will just go mouldy, too little and your worms will go hungry. It will take a while to get an understanding of your worms.
Some people say a wormery will replace the compost heap, I disagree. I create too much for my wormery and need a compst heap, so I tend to give the wormery stuff the compost heap won't like.
watch the cold in the summer and the heat in summer. positioning is important.
